Welcome to wine country! If you are in the Okanagan this summer and looking to satiate your palate with the fruits of the local harvest, here are 30 of the finest Okanagan wineries (plus a craft distillery too good not to mention) located in Kelowna, Lake Country, Summerland and Vernon, BC. (In no particular order)

1. House of Rose, Kelowna


House of Rose Winery is one of the Fab Five wineries in the heart of the Okanagan. Spend a quiet afternoon sipping wine with family, friends, or talking with people from all over the world in their delightful picnic area, nestled between vineyards and orchards. The owners and staff are only too happy to answer any questions you may have and always offer a warm and friendly welcome. Enjoy a free wine tasting or winery tour, and wander through the vineyard to watch the grapes maturing under the Okanagan sun. So good even Brooke Shields is a fan.


2. Intrigue Wines, Lake Country


Intrigue offers a boutique winery experience nestled in the heart of Lake Country, British Columbia. With the diverse and complementary experience brought to the winery by each of its partners, what unites them more than anything is their absolute passion for wine. With a variety of award winning wines on offer, it’s easy to see why. Visit the Wine Shop and Tasting Room or grab a bottle and while away a few hours in their Picnic Area. Now open 7 days a week.


3. The View Winery, Kelowna


Situated on a historic orchard that has been in the Turton/Ward family for 5 generations, in 2006 The View began making their own premium wines in the beloved old packinghouse built by Great Granddad Ward in 1922. Today, with many awards to its name, The View Winery bottles approximately 6,500 cases a year with estate grown grapes. Another member of the fab five, the View has one eye on the future but with a keen sense of celebrating the past. Just look for the red shoe – and you know you’re in for a treat.


4. Meadow Vista Honey Wines, Kelowna

Meadow Vista Honey Wines was established in 2009 and is an award winning organic honey winery. The owners of Meadow Vista were the first winery to produce a Canadian sparkling Honey Wine and have been recognized both nationally and internationally for their products. Recently relocated, they can now be found on June Springs Road in SE Kelowna. The modern artisan farm now occupies over 5 acres of land, and has an exquisite tasting room to tickle your tastebuds. Open Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday and Sunday 12pm-5pm.


5. Okanagan Spirits Craft Distillery, Vernon

Okay, so technically not a winery but too good not to mention. Completed in 2015, Okanagan Spirit’s new flagship distillery is a site to behold. Home to North America’s tallest copper pot still, this 1930’s style production facility allows them to keep up with a growing demand, and to vastly expand their Whisky production capabilities. Next time you’re in Vernon, be sure to stop in for a tour and a tasting and witness first-hand the magic of craft distilling at its best.


6. 8th Generation, Summerland

The first of our Summerland based Okanagan wineries, 8th Generation has been family owned since 1783. Operated by husband and wife team Bernd and Stefanie Schales, their extensive knowledge of winemaking combined with their warm and welcoming manner means visitors are always treated to an unforgettable tasting experience. One of the 15 members of Summerland’s Bottleneck Drive, which is a unique group of award winning wineries.


7. Mount Boucherie, West Kelowna


Mt. Boucherie is a family owned and operated winery that has been in the Okanagan since the beginning of the British Columbia wine industry. Situated in West Kelowna, on its name-sake mountain –  the remnant of a former volcano formed more than 60 million years ago – it overlooks the breathtaking vista of the region. Grab one of their picnic lunches and enjoy a glass or 2 of their award winning wines while watching the Steam Engine from the old Kettle Valley railway passing through the vineyard.  A delightful way to while away a summer’s afternoon!


9. Cedar Creek Estate Winery, Kelowna

10. Haywire @ Okanagan Crush Pad, Summerland

Okana­gan Crush Pad is committed to making wines that are pure Okanagan. The Summerland winery, owned by Christine Coletta and Steve Lornie, is located on a 10-acre site overlooking Lake Okana­gan. As the Okanagan’s first purpose-built custom wine-making facility, Okanagan Crush Pad take a different approach to fermentation, using con­crete tanks to fer­ment or age all of their Hay­wire brand wines.


11. Thornhaven Estates Winery, Summerland


Elevated on the slopes of Little Giant’s Head Mountain, a rocky, pine-covered crest, Thornhaven is fronted by its flourishing vineyards and cloaked in its quiet surroundings. 12. Sandhill, Kelowna


Situated between historic Knox Mountain and the trendy downtown area of Kelowna, Sandhill winery is closely located to one of the City’s most picturesque hiking areas and is in walking distance from the finest downtown hotels, restaurants and shops. Their new tasting room offers a wine tastings all year round as well a large selection of Sandhill branded clothing, house wares, home decor, and local artisan foods to suit every budget and taste.


13. Sumac Ridge, Summerland

Sumac Ridge Estate Winery has been dedicated to producing wine from 100% BC grown grapes since its inception, and has set the standard for high quality in fine wines. Recognizing Summerland’s combination of sparkling water, brilliant sun and fertile land would be ideal for growing grapes, founder Harry McWatters started the winery in 1979. Grapes grown in their vineyards include Gewürztraminer, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, all of which have been turned into award-winning wines.


14. Summerhill Pyramid, Kelowna

Using grape clones imported from France, Stephen Cipes and his family started production at Summerhill back in 1986. Since then the winery has been steadily growing and Summerhill now has the distinction of being the most visited of the Okanagan wineries,  as well as being Canada’s largest certified organic winery. Summerhill’s policy of using no herbicides or pesticides in order to keep the lake clean and ensure their grapes are not tainted by the chemicals, has certainly paid off. Their range of wines is astonishing, with visitors coming from far and wide to sample their sparkling ‘bubblys’.


15. Ancient Hill Winery, Kelowna


The name ‘Ancient Hill’ was chosen to reflect the forces of nature which helped  shaped the environment surrounding this vineyard and it is certainly an appropriate title. Nestled in the beautiful Ellison area of  North Kelowna, Ancient Hill has sweeping panoramic views of the Okanagan valley. Grab a spot of lunch and head down to Ancient Hill today to while away a sunny afternoon in their picnic area.  It’s the perfect way to relax.


16. Quails Gate, West Kelowna


Located in the heart of West Kelowna wine country, Quails Gate is an internationally renowned agri-tourism site. With a friendly, sophisticated and educational wine and culinary experience, visitors to Quails Gate find something new every time they visit.


17. Larch Hills, Salmon Arm


Larch Hills is a family run vineyard just south of Salmon Arm. Jack and Hazel Manser, the owners, are proud to state that all their products are made from 100% British Columbia grapes, sourced from their main Salmon Arm vineyard or contracted from vineyards further south in the Okanagan valley. Their specialty is cool climate grape growing meaning they have varieties that are generally not available in other parts of BC.


18. Tantalus, Kelowna


Originally known as Pioneer Vineyards, Tantalus was founded in 2004 when owner Eric Savics was presented with the opportunity to acquire one of the Okanagan’s premier vineyards. The winery features a stunning state of the art facility which was completed in March 2010 and has the honour of being the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified winery in British Columbia. After sampling the wines, taking in the awe inspiring views and browsing the stunning Canadian art work on display, we’re pretty sure this is one place you won’t want to leave.


19. Spierhead, Kelowna


SpierHead Winery and Vineyard situated along Spiers Road, South East of Kelowna is one of the region’s newest wineries and forms part of the East Kelowna Fab Five. Their focus is on premium quality wine produced from grapes grown on their estate vineyard and from selected Okanagan Valley Vineyards. In addition to the fine wines, the wine shop displays a selection of vineyard themed photography and paintings to further please the senses. Visitors to the winery are encouraged to pack a picnic and enjoy their wines in the licensed picnic area next to the tasting room.


20. Camelot Vineyards, Kelowna


Starting off as an orchard and transforming into a vineyard in 1996, Camelot Vineyards Estate Winery has been part of the Young family for over 50 years. Camelot boasts originality – a beautiful tasting room based on the Medieval theme along with a six foot suit of armour, assorted shields, swords and jousting gloves. Outside there is an added feature of a sword in the stone and a patio area where a glass of wine can be enjoyed whilst absorbing the incredible scenery.


21. Vibrant Vine, Kelowna


Voted the number one winery experience in BC by Trip Advisor, Vibrant Vine and Okanagan Villa Winery are a must-see when visiting Kelowna. Vibrant Vine boasts the only 3-D tasting room in the world as well as regular concerts all summer, and Okanagan Villa offers Mediterranean charm with its stunning architecture, lush gardens full of flowers and a spectacular view of Kelowna and the Central Okanagan region. There is certainly something for everyone here.


22. Gray Monk Estate Winery, Lake Country


Established in 1972 by George and Trudy Heiss, Gray Monk Estate Winery is situated in Okanagan Centre, a short jaunt up the road from Kelowna and Vernon. It boasts over 100 acres of lush vineyards overlooking the stunning Okanagan Lake. Gray Monk offers a series of available wine tastings or tutored tastings in their wine library, making Gray Monk the place for wine-newbies and connoisseurs alike.


23. 50th Parallel, Lake Country


On a 61 acre site in the heart of Okanagan Wine Country in British Columbia, only minutes from Kelowna Airport, sits the majestic 50th Parallel Estate. Located in Okanagan Centre, Ex Nihilo Winery boasts 10-acres of vineyards and an 8,000 square ft Mediterranean style property overlooking the splendor of the beautiful Lake Okanagan. 25. Arrowleaf Cellars, Lake Country


Arrowleaf Cellars, nestled in the gentle hills of Lake Country, is a family run business owned and operated by Joe and Margrit Zuppiger and their son, Manuel Zuppiger. With award winning wines and a picnic area set against a beautiful landscape of vineyards sloping down to the stunning Okanagan Lake, you’ll be hard pressed to find a more charming winery than Arrowleaf.


26. Mission Hill, Kelowna


You’ll have no trouble finding the Mission Hill Family Estate, their monument overlooking Kelowna is an iconic landmark of the Okanagan valley. Walk through their lush on-site vineyards, visit the underground cellars or sample fine wines by the glass as you marvel at the vista and beauty of the region. The Terrace Restaurant, ordained to be one of the top 5 winery restaurants in the world by Travel + Leisure magazine, offers stylish, seasonal wine country fare.


27. Sperling Vineyards, Kelowna


When it comes to history, no winery in the Okanagan can boast of a heritage quite like Sperling. In the late 1800s Giovanni Casorzo (Casorso) arrived in the Okanagan from Italy to create a better life for himself and his family. A few years later in 1925 his son Charles planted the first vineyard in the Kelowna area and 5 years later his two other sons, Louis and Pete planted vines on the Casorso ranch, where Sperling vineyards is now situated.


28. Volcanic Hills Estate Winery, West Kelowna


The journey to Volcanic Hills began in the early 60’s with one father’s dream and a whole family’s journey. The Gidda family fulfilled their father’s dream and established Volcanic Hills in 2010 – a 15,000 square foot winery situated on the slope of a 60 million year old stratovolcano. Enjoy delicious East Indian fusion cuisine prepared by Chef Stefan Pimenta on the patio at Lazeez restaurant, while you relax looking out over the fantastic view of the vineyard.


29. Rollingdale Winery, West Kelowna


A small farm gate winery located in Lakeview Heights, in West Kelowna, Rollingdale is 100% family owned and operated. Their focus is on producing fine wines using only premium grapes made from the most conscientiously cultivated vines. The certified organic wines are made in a relaxing atmosphere. 30. St Hubertus & Oak Bay Estate Winery, Kelowna


Located only 20 minutes from downtown Kelowna, the historic St Hubertus & Oak Bay Estate Winery statuesquely gazes over the shores of beautiful Lake Okanagan.
